Student enrollment in Urban Assembly schools has grown exponentially. In 2003-2004, we enrolled about 940 students. In 2008-2009, as we add a new school and additional grades to existing schools, we are serving nearly 7,200 students. In 2008, eight schools graduated seniors. In 2009, three more schools will graduate seniors. Our goal is to serve 10,000 New York City students when all our schools are at capacity.
Responding to national concerns about poor academic performance among
low-income males and the small number of young women majoring in math,
science, and business, the Urban Assembly has created four single-sex schools. (Our Schools) |
