While AI tools are spreading nationally, families and educators remain concerned about student privacy, bias, overreliance on technology and the potential erosion of critical-thinking skills. The central challenge is establishing clear safeguards while determining where AI can genuinely improve teaching and learning.
The Urban Assembly is featured as an example of a more targeted, educator-centered approach. Project CAFE analyzes classroom recordings to give teachers private, non-evaluative feedback on instructional practices, while CounselorGPT expands students’ access to college and career guidance. Together, the tools illustrate UA’s position that AI should strengthen educators’ capacity and students’ opportunities—not replace human relationships or professional judgment.
