Today for #FindOutWhatsWorkingWeek, we’re excited to share insights from our Post-Secondary Readiness & Success (PRS) work 🎓
We’re building strong, sustainable pathways to college and careers by embedding support into school systems through advisory structures and everyday practices 📚
What are you learning in your school or environment? What’s working well in how PRS shows up for students? Let us know in the comments. 💬
Ninth grade is a critical juncture and one of the strongest predictors of a student’s long-term academic trajectory. At Urban Assembly, we help schools strengthen student success systems by connecting data—like attendance and credit accumulation—to action. This ensures students receive early, targeted interventions before gaps become difficult to address.
And we’re seeing the impact:
📈 Nearly 70% of our schools are on track to meet and/or exceed the previous cohort's ninth-grade credited accumulations
🏫 Over 80% of schools have seen a measurable boost in ninth-grade student attendance from last year
Relationships drive engagement, but data-driven systems ensure that every student feels that support...
Today for #FindOutWhatsWorkingWeek, we’re highlighting the work of our Continuous Improvement Team (CIT) on 9th Grade Success 📚
Attendance matters, but it’s just the starting point. True academic success comes from strong instructional quality, consistent grading practices, and high-quality task design in classrooms 🧑🏫
These are the systems that help keep students on track.

Does Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) actually prepare students for the workforce? We found out and we know what’s working. 📈
In a recent research brief with @FordhamUniversity and @RiversideInsights, UA high school students completed an assessment typically used to measure workplace “soft skills.” The research findings found a powerful link between emotional intelligence and career readiness.
The Data:
84% of students showed well-developed SEL skills
85% exhibited strong leadership abilities
81% demonstrated high levels of collaboration
When schools prioritize both social-emotional development and career readiness, students develop key competencies needed for success valued in the workplace and in life.🤝💼

Across schools, we know that strong relationships drive student success, but when they aren’t built into schoolwide systems, they vary classroom to classroom. At Urban Assembly, we help schools move from scattered SEL practices to aligned systems. When SEL systems are targeted, students are more likely to experience consistent support, build meaningful relationships, and develop a strong sense of belonging.
And we’re seeing the impact:
📈 94% of schools are on track to achieve a 20% increase in SEL implementation scores
🤝 72% are improving students’ sense of belonging
✨ Over half of schools are maintaining high-quality student-teacher interactions
Attending a UA school allowed me to overcome those barriers that my socio-economic struggles destined upon me. I was fortunate to be exposed to colleges, hear from alums and be part of empowering programs.
